23 May 2024, 8 PM AEST – GLM CPR hosted an insightful webinar on "Key Informant Methods (KIM)", drawing 39 attendees from 12 countries to explore innovative approaches in childhood disability research, particularly within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Gulam Khandaker introducing Prof. Mohammad Muhit, the pioneer of KIM. Prof Muhit then delivered a comprehensive overview of KIM's development and its impactful application in childhood disability research across LMICs. He highlighted successful case studies, including the Bangladesh CP Register, Nepal CP Register, and Indonesian CP Register.

Dr. Mahmudul Al Imam presented a detailed outline of the seven essential steps for conducting KIM in LMICs, providing attendees with a practical framework for implementation. Prof. Muhit further elaborated on the KIM process and shared valuable resources for those looking to adopt this method.

During an engaging Q&A session, participants inquired about various aspects of KIM and Prof. Muhit addressed each question thoroughly, enhancing participants' understanding of the method. The interactive session underscored KIM's feasibility, with participants from Malawi, Cameroon and Ghana sharing their experiences of implementing KIM and similar methods.

Prof. Khandaker concluded the webinar by thanking all participants for their active engagement and proposed to establish a knowledge sharing hub for KIM in LMICs. He also invited the participants and their colleagues to the next session: Early Detection and Early Intervention for Cerebral Palsy | GLM CPR.
