ABOUT THE TRAINING
WEBINAR DESCRIPTION
Data analysis and scientific publishing are essential competencies for health professionals who aspire to contribute to research and build an academic career. While these skills are often perceived as complex, they follow a series of logical, practical, and learnable steps. With the right guidance, structured approaches, and mentorship, the journey from data to publication can become both achievable and enjoyable.
This interactive workshop will provide simplified, step-by-step guidance on basic to intermediate data analysis and manuscript development. Participants will gain practical tips, hands-on learning tools, and clear strategies to interpret results, structure a paper, and navigate the publication process with confidence. The webinar will also introduce opportunities to join the GLM-CPR Writing Group, supporting continued mentorship, collaboration, and long-term research skill development.
WHO SHOULD JOIN
Researchers, medical graduates, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, public health professionals, health science students, and other health professionals who are involved in research or are planning to publish and pursue an academic career.
TRAINING OBJECTIVE
To strengthen participants’ capacity to progress from research data to publication by providing practical, stepwise guidance in data analysis and manuscript writing, and by creating pathways for ongoing mentorship and collaborative learning through the GLM CPR Writing Group.
TRAINING CONTENTS
· Understanding the stepwise approach to data analysis: from research question to analytical plan
· Selecting appropriate statistical tests based on study design and data type (basic to intermediate concepts)
· Interpreting findings and presenting results effectively using tables, charts, and figures
· Developing a manuscript using the IMRaD structure with a focus on clarity, scientific writing style, and common pitfalls
· Understanding the publication pathway: journal selection, submission, peer review, and responding to reviewers
· Pathways for continued learning and mentorship through the GLM-CPR Writing Group
LEARNING OUTCOMES
· By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
· Recognise data analysis and manuscript writing as achievable, stepwise processes
· Identify appropriate analysis methods for their research questions and datasets
· Select suitable statistical approaches for common study designs
· Interpret and present research findings clearly and accurately
· Develop a structured manuscript using the IMRaD format
· Understand the key stages of the journal submission and peer-review process
